Emily said that girls are not as suspicious, so she tried to convince General Greene that she can deliver the message.
After, Emily convinced Genral Greene, Greene told her if she got caught destroy the letter. She listend than left.
Emily had rode all day. She did her best to stay out of sight. When evening came, she found a farm house, the husband and wife who lived there and invited her to stay the night. At supper, the couple told Emily to be careful of General Greene’s men, who were in the wood. Then Emily knew, they were her foes! Emily could not get up and leave right away, or they would know she was a patriot. She had went to bed and woke up to voices asking about her. Long before dawn, she had left.
Emily got caught, and was searched.
The soldiers locked her in a room, and she had no where to hide it, so she memorized it and tore it up and ate it.
